University of Vermont climbs 10 spots in national university rankings

University of Vermont jumps up 10 spots to #82 in US News & World Report rankings for national universities in the USA

U.S.News & World Report Best Univeersity RankingsEach year, the US News & World Report surveys top universities across a variety of factors including academics, research opportunities, and student life. As testament to the University's dedication to improving student experience, University of Vermont has earned the ranking of #82 in the 2014 rankings of national universities. The 'Best Colleges 2014' report has elevated University of Vermont's standing by 10 places, up from #92 last year.

Additionally, the University of Vermont continues to rank highly among top public universities at #34, and for the following undergraduate programs:

  • #159 Best Undergraduate Business Program
  • #115 Best Undergraduate Engineering Program

For its graduate programs, University of Vermont has primarily earned recognition across its engineering and medicine disciplines:

  • #90 Civil Engineering
  • #64 Environmental Engineering
  • #119 Mechanical Engineering
  • #44 Best Medical Schools: Primary Care
  • #59 Best Medical Schools: Research

The School of Engineering at the University of Vermont has once again shown its mettle by earning the rank of #126 in the 'Best Engineering Schools' list.

University of Vermont was also ranked #14 on the 'Up-and-Coming Schools' list, noted as a university "making the most promising and innovative changes in the areas of academics, faculty and student life," according to the publication.The 'Up-and-Coming Schools' were selected based on the number of nominations they received from top college officials in their ranking peer group. 

The University of Vermont has consistently demonstrated high-quality academic and student programs through these rankings. In addition, the University has earned a high score for its engagement and interaction on social media channels as recorded by websites Klout and Kred. The Huffington Post, combined these scores with last years national university ranking to list University of Vermont among the 'Top 100 Best and Most Collaborative US Colleges'. This ranking is based on the belief that the best colleges and universities are those that are the most interactive, graduating students who are extremely social and expect transparency and collaboration on all levels.
