4 things to do in Vermont during winter break
December 22, 2016
Vermont state is beautiful year-round but snowy landscapes and the holiday spirit make it especially breath-taking. If you’re thinking what to do during your winter break, here are four things you can do without travelling too far.
1. Winter sports
Vermont is well-known for its perfect conditions for the winter sports. If you enjoy skiing, snowboarding and even tubing, you can choose from a variety of mountain resorts, such as Smugglers’ Notch Resort, Stratton Mountain Resort or Lake Morey Resort, and spend a day or two perfecting the turns on the slopes. You can find a lot of useful information about different resorts and the condition of the snow here: http://www.vermont.com/
2. Holiday shopping
Gifts and surprises are the integral part of all winter holidays. And luckily you can make a lot of your holiday shopping in the local shops and malls around Vermont. You can go to the Church Street Marketplace which is undeniably the epicenter of shopping; if you’re in South Burlington, you can check out the University Mall; and if you’re passing by Manchester Center in the southern Vermont, you can stop by to Manchester Woodcraft.
3. Covered bridges
Vermont is home to 106 covered bridges so take an opportunity to explore some of them during your winter recess. The bridges are scattered throughout the state, most of them closer to the western border with New York state. There are a few bridges located close to Burlington, such as the ones in Shelburne, Charlotte, Westford, and many others. You can find the map of all covered bridges in Vermont here: https://www.coveredbridgemap.com/vt/
4. Cheese trail
Go on the Vermont Cheese Trail to find the best locally produced cheese. There are many cheese farms in Vermont open to public (you may need to call ahead to visit some of them) so this could be a perfect activity for a cold winter day. Check out this Vermont Cheese Trail map to mark the farm you’d like to visit first: http://www.vtcheese.com/vermont-cheese-trail-map/
These are just some of the things you can do during you winter break in Vermont. Stay warm and have a magical time during your winter holidays!
